Barriers
Where has the truth gone? Just when lies seem pushed aside, another curtain of invention falls across fact and reality, clanging like a portcullis. How can we go forward?
This series presents almost impenetrable barriers, with the odd chink where we might see through.

Lamorna
Inspired by a rock stack at Lamorna Cove in Cornwall. Beyond, the ocean stretches away. But turn around and there is the land festooned with lies and manipulations of the truth. Hopeful marks are scratched onto the rock. Viking runes meaning peace, truth, protection. A symbolic scrawl conjuring the energy we need to fight war. A spiral demanding knowledge and perseverance.
An edition of 30 etchings printed on Somerset paper.

Cornwall
Built by hand, with love or under duress, a magnificent work of art, a stone wall at Prussia Cove. Protective of livestock, excluding humans, enclosing property. A glimpse of the beyond, too high to see over except on tiptoe, too dark to make sense of.
An edition of 30 etchings.

Bamboo
An impenetrable grove of bamboo at Trebah Gardens, Cornwall.
Aquatint
An edition of 30 etchings.

Gates of Night
Sometimes what lies behind seems more attractive than what's on this side. Take a chance.
Based on a backdrop for a 1940s wartime Slovenian puppet theatre.
An edition of 30 etchings.
